Director Yang Yongguang, born in Canada, served as a director at Toronto's One-One Television, overseeing the production of various programs including culinary, travel shows, and commercials.
He holds a Master of Fine Arts in Film Production from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts and has been involved in the production of the film Blood Drop.
His written and directed short film 90 Days was selected for over twenty international film festivals, including the Vancouver International Film Festival, the Palm Springs International ShortFilmFest, and the Bermuda International Film Festival. It was honored with the Kodak Gold Award and the North American Best Short Film at the Palm Springs Film Festival. The film was screened on Air Canada flights and at the Canada National Screen Institute, where it received the "A&E Best Short Film Award," and lead actress Wang Yinu was awarded the "Brian Linham Acting Award." The film was subsequently distributed by the Sundance Channel.
Yang Yongguang is the only Chinese-heritage director invited to participate in the 2015 Toronto International Film Festival's Director's Creative Guidance training program and participated in the 2016 Berlin International Film Festival's Tokyo Talent Labs. His feature project Yesterday Will Be Perfect was a finalist in the 2016 FIRST International Film Festival project market in Xining, China.
